Course Overview

This course enables learners to gain the skills and knowledge to understand the legal and regulatory background to occupational health and safety policy, to be able to assess policies, as well as to recommend and implement policy changes.

Learners will develop knowledge and skills relevant to putting policy into practice, utilising management systems, resources, risk and incident management, leadership, management and skills development.


Methods of teaching/learning

At ESTYA, we are opting for the blended learning approach. Students learn at home via electronic, online media, through paper ‘packs’ of resources as well as traditional face-to-face teaching to ensure students s are given equal opportunities to access the curriculum, whether in school or learning at home. Home learning builds on and complements what is done at the school. The blended learning approach considers how to incorporate :

  • Synchronous Learning

    Synchronous learning is teaching and learning that happens where the teacher is present at the same time as the students, meaning that there is real-time interaction between them.

    • Resources and activities delivered online, e.g., through Microsoft Teams.
    • Recorded lessons/video instruction/podcasts.
    • Flipped learning – students engage with material before discussions in class.
  • Asynchronous Learning

    Asynchronous learning is learning that does not necessarily happen at the same time for the teacher and the students. There is no real-time interaction; the learning resources are created and made available for students to use later.

Entry Criteria

  1. Age :
    • 18 years or older
  2. Academic achievements :
    • Relevant NQF/QCF/RQF Level 5 Diploma or equivalent recognized qualification
  3. Business experience :
    • Management experience checked with the delivery center for Mature learners over 21 Years old
  4. English requirements : ( IELTS optional )

    if candidate is not from a majority English speaking country :

    • must provide with English Language competency :
      • 5.5 in IELTS R&W min 5.5
      • Pearson 51
      • CEFR Level B2
      • TOEFL iBT 87-109

  4. Diplomas obtained (Baccalaureate or more Translated in English)
  5. Transcripts of the last two years (Translated in English)
  6. Recommendation Letter from a previous teacher or a professor who teaches you
  7. Valid English Test ( IELTS and equivalent requirements are optional )
  8. Working certificates for mature learners
